As far as I can figure, there are TWO kinds of people – those who hate garage sales and those who stop at them. Of course, I stop!
Imagine my excitement when my cousin, Carol suggested we fly to PEI to visit her sister, Anne in Charlottetown and take in the 70 Mile Coastal Yard Sale! Anne has a lovely house with space to put us up, a van to carry our treasures AND she loves to yard sale! How fabulous is that???
Plans were made and now we have only one more sleep until our WestJet flight leaves Toronto headed for Charlottetown and yard sale-ing!
As a Downsizing Diva, I’ve been met with some criticism from colleagues and friends about my crazy yard sale habit! Since I live in a 600 square foot condo, I have rules so I don’t become overwhelmed with all kinds of stuff.
I follow the one-in-one-out rule. When I bring something new into my home, I let go of something else. Of course, this rule does NOT apply to jewellery because pins, necklaces and bracelets are so small, they hardly take up any space at all. A colleague calls this “SOS” – sparkly object syndrome and I suffer from it!
Bringing treasues home from PEI could be a challenge, so I will be looking for smaller items to fit into my luggage. That being said, I know Anne is planning to drive her van back to Toronto in November and I just might be able to convince her to bring back one or two of my larger purchases! Hmmmm…
Now I just need to go to the bank, get some loonies, toonies and small bills and I’m ready to go!
This DOWNSIZING Diva plans to do a bit of UPSIZING this weekend!
